My latest paranormal thriller–Serpent Egg Rapture–is the second novel in my Eggsquisite Corpse Thriller Series. As much as I’m thrilled to see my literary vision expanded into the next book of such a provocative series, I’m just as enthused about the cover design for the book because of the way it materialized.
I’m truly fortunate that the radiant Emily Billingsley graces the cover of Serpent Egg Rapture. We celebrated her cover model selection by publisher Hydra Publications with a joint signing for the book launch held August 10th.
Her participation in the book cover process resulted from her prior cosplay of the recurring character Sirena Martell, who debuted in the pages of the Eggsquisite Corpse Thriller Series launch–Cosmic Egg Rapture.
Here is a photo of Emily in full Sirena cosplay splendor last year at the Cincinnati Comic Expo, where she strolled the convention center with a copy of the book displayed as pictured and distributed Cosmic Egg Rapture business cards with “Sirena’s Special” for purchase of the book at the Hydra Publications booth.
Hopefully, we’ll have many more opportunities for joint author/cover model signing events. We next appear at Half Price Books in Florence, Kentucky on Saturday September 7th from Noon-4pm.
I’m set to join the Hydra Publications booth at the Cincinnati Comic Expo again this year for the Sept. 21-22 weekend, and I hope Emily will join me for at least one of those days.
I’m also scheduled for two upcoming conventions in Louisville; the Imaginarium Convention from Oct. 11-13 and GalaxyCon from Nov. 22-24. Maybe Emily will cosplay and sign with me at those great events, too!
Fret not, though, if unable to make one of these signing events. I have signed copies of both Cosmic Egg Rapture and Serpent Egg Rapture available for purchase in the U.S. by clicking this link:
Both books are also available from Amazon.
Oh, and lastly but certainly by no means least, I must add that photographer Bob Willcutt photographed Emily for the book cover image at the Willcutt Guitars corporate studio in Lexington, Kentucky. His colleague Tom Jones actually designed the book cover that the publisher used. Many thanks to both of them for their great work!
So, now, I’ll let Emily bring a close to this blog with Sirena’s message for the ages:
